Boeing KC-97F/G Pilot's Handling Notes for Tanking Operations
***********************************************************

If ferrying a KC-97F/G from base to base or any other non tanking operation remove the transfer fuel before flight and use the Boeing 377 Statocruiser handling notes instead of these. These procedures apply to tanking operations only.

ENGINES

The KC-97F/G has four 3250hp Pratt & Whitney R-4360-59B Wasp Major engines which are carburetted and turbocharged. Each provides 3500hp for take off (at sea level) with water methanol injection.

The constant speed propellers can be feathered and have reverse pitch.

Automixture control is provided, but may be overidden.

WARNING - Cannot comply with IFR GAT climb requirements - file as Operational Air Traffic

WARNING - Do not land with transfer fuel still aboard unless weight below 130,000lbs
