PLEASE TURN WORD WRAP ON!!

THE SASFSS PROJECT IN BRIEF

The SASFSS (Scandinavian Airlines System Flight-Sim Support) project is dedicated to flight simmers all over the world. Its purpose is to provide the virtual world with original Route Manual(RM) pages used on board SAS aircraft.

PARTICIPANTS:
SAS FLIGHT SUPPORT, STOOV, STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN, a subsidiary company of SAS, responsible for all RM documentation and I, "the undersigned", BERTIL GULLMAR, Sweden, a private hobbyist and amateur with no economical interests, connections and links what so ever with STOOV.

MATERIALS AND METHODS:
The RM pages are going to be published on the Internet as electronic documents in Acrobat PDF file format. The original files are sent to me from STOOV as email attachment. I annotate, and secure the pdf files and finally upload them to some flight-sim ftp servers. Later on hopefully also to my own home page. All files covering an aerodrome are zipped and uploaded as sasxxxx.zip files, where xxxx stand for the aerodromes 4-letter code. The zip files are about 1 MB. They will be frequently uploaded at a rate of, 3-5 each month.
You can view and print the documents but not change them. To view/print them you must have Acrobat Reader, 32-bit version which you can download from:
	http://www.adobe.com/prodindex/acrobat/readstep.html

When printing them, excellent results are achieved with a common deskjet printer, (for instance HP DeskJet 600) at highest resolution. Laser printers give still better results of course.

DOCUMENTS AND AERODROMES TO BE PUBLISHED:
IAL (Instrument Approach and Landing Chart), STAR:s (Standard Terminal Arrival Route) and SID:s(Standard Instrument Departure) from destinations that SAS flies. Later perhaps also RFC:s (Route Facility Chart), but they are really big.
I am free to choose any aerodrome/airport from a very long list.
The first aerodromes to be uploaded are in sequence:

1.ESSA/Stockholm-Arlanda (for patriotic reasons?) = sasessa.zip
2.EKCH/Kbenhavn-Kastrup = sasekch.zip
3.ENFB/Oslo-Fornebu =sasenfb.zip

SAS is after all a Scandinavian company!
After that, probably VHHH/HongKong-KaiTak, RJAA/Tokio-Narita, KORD/Chicago-Ohare and KSEA/Seattle-Tacoma. Why these? I have my ideas for an upcoming "authentic route adventure", but at this stage I can not tell you more.

SAFETY AND LEGAL ASPECTS:
The documents may be slightly outdated and withdrawn from current RM due to revisions. For that reason they are NOT FOR OPERATIONAL USE and must not be used with true-life aviation.

The files, as well as printed copies of the documents are freeware and must not be resold or misused. Moreover, they must not be incorporated into any other shareware packages, payware or CD-ROM:s, publications or periodicals prepared merely for sale without our permission. However, they may be freely uploaded and distributed to any site on the Net.

CONNECTION ACCOUNT:
In this country, like many others, you pay for the time you are connected to the line.
We therefore can see my telephone account easily rising to all time high due to this project.
As I am in no way sponsored, I have to grab everything out of my own pocket.
So if you like the concept of this project and believe it will be an interesting and valuable one, feel free to "investigate" in this cause with a small contribution in your own currency. It will be much appreciated. Just slip it in an envelope to help these phone expenses. They might add up and could be to heavy to handle. Of course, don't feel obliged. BUT IF YOU FEEL FOR IT, please send it to the address below AND DON'T FORGET TO MENTION YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS!

At the same time you can include any suggestions of what aerodromes you want to be uploaded next. Perhaps you might also want a plate from an odd place in FORMER USSR, CHINA, IRAN or whatever, that perhaps never will be uploaded, at least in the first place. Please let me know and I will check with STOOV if that page is available. If so, I will send the requested document as an email attachment to you.
When I receive your *support*, I will send you a confirmation by email and you will automatically be added to my mailing list for coming events.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I also wish to express my sincere gratitude to STOOV for their great helpfulness, understanding and of being favorably disposed towards this initiative of mine.

Finally I hope this project will inspire you all to great flight-sim achievements!

If you have any questions or suggestions don't hesitate to contact me on my email address
below.

Enjoy!
